This is one of the breathtaking views you’ll enjoy from Le Bégué
In the heart of the Pyrénées National Park
Le Bégué is situated in the picturesque village of Estaing in the Val d’Azun. The village is at an altitude of 1000m and is surrounded by the breathtaking peaks of the Pyrénées.
Estaing is famous for its lake 5 minutes further up the valley, which is very popular with walkers and where there is a visitor centre and bar/café open in the summer months.
In the village is a small campsite, L’Etape du Randonneur, which has a bar/café open to the public with a lovely outdoor terrace and indoor seating. It also has a small grocery and sells fresh bread daily by order.
As it’s only a 10-minute walk from Le Bégué, the campsite is a popular place for our guests to take a leisurely meal or buy some food supplies.

For a wider range of shops, Arrens is a 10-minute drive away. Here you’ll find a small supermarket, two bakeries, a butcher, a newsagent, a pharmacy and a shop selling regional produce. The outdoor swimming pool is open in July and August.
There are several local farms where you can see cheese being made, sample it and buy it direct from the farmer. You can also buy local jam, honey, foie gras and confit de canard direct from the producers.
The attractive spa town of Argelès-Gazost (15 minutes away) has a good range of shops and restaurants, a large supermarket and an excellent market every Tuesday morning.
There is a thermal spa, a casino and an animal park featuring animals of the Pyrenees such as bears, isards (Pyrenean chamois), marmots and wolves.
